Jimmy Smith swings easy, bluesy, and deftly here. Some may dismiss it as being slightly more on the commercial side than his classic Blue Note sets, but if accessibility is a crime then Smith, Kenny Burrell, and Grady Tate should have pleaded guilty with no apology. The solos are tasteful, melodious, and firmly drawn from the blues even when the material itself isn't, and they swing without having to push it. Don't be afraid to add this to either your Jimmy Smith or your Kenny Burrell library.
